Our community

At Workstar, corporate responsibility is about being aware of and having a positive impact on our people, our environment and on the communities in which we work. In short, shaping a better future for everyone touched by the business. Workstar’s corporate values of Vision, People, Time, Balance, Customers, Family and Shareholders ensure that we engage all stakeholders and integrate our social responsibility into the day-to-day running of our business.

At Workstar we invest, time, energy and resources to ensure we remain true to the ethos that defines our business - we engage communities.

Some communities that Workstar support include:

foodwatershelter incorporated (fws)

FWS is an Australian not-for-profit, non-denominational, non-governmental charity that builds and runs eco-friendly orphanages with educational, social and health facilities for children in developing countries.

In doing so, fws aims to enhance the current and future lives of the children they provide for so that they are able to contribute to their community and have a better quality of life.

They help facilitate this in a number of ways including providing orphans with nourishing meals, access to water, a safe shelter, access to health facilities (including AIDS care), after school social and educational programs and weekend classes covering environmental and health issues for the wider community.

Workstar has recently become a fws corporate sponsor. Currently we are directly contributing to one of fws’ more recent projects involving building an orphanage in Tanzania named "Kesha Leo."

Kesho Leo orphanage will open its facilities to 40 orphaned children who will benefit from food, water, shelter, accelerated learning, a deep understanding of their own culture, plenty of love and caring, and a very bright future.

Workstar will also soon be introducing a workplace giving program, corporate funding and in-kind support to fws.

Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC)

RMHC is an independent, non-profit organisation that was established by McDonald’s in 1985. Their main focus is to improve the health and wellbeing of seriously ill children. They do this by creating, finding, operating and supporting programs that help seriously ill children and their families while they receive medical treatment as well as assisting recovering children return to normal life.

The cornerstone of RMHC’s work is Ronald McDonald Houses which are attached to major women or children’s hospitals and provide a ‘home-away-from-home’ for seriously ill children and their families. They also provide the support of experienced House Managers, volunteers and other families in similar situations.

Workstar support RMHC through donations and volunteering the time of our staff to work at some of the Houses. We also actively support and promote all fundraising activities undertaken by the Houses.
