Find out moreTrainees under the instruction of integrated learning solutions company Workstar received a number of awards at the recently held New South Wales Training Awards. The Awards honour and reward the achievement of students, teachers, employers, training organisations and small business, and are conducted annually by the New South Wales Department of Education and Training to recognise outstanding achievement in the Vocational Education and Training sector (VET).
Among the winners, Megan Honnery from the Newcastle and Hunter region was presented with the Trainee of the Year award in the Business Category upon completion of the Certificate III in Business (Administration). Megan works for the Master Builders Association in the Group Training and Personnel section, and is currently studying a Level 4 traineeship with Workstar which she is due to complete this year.
Samantha Keppie from the North West region of New South Wales was also awarded Trainee of the Year in the Retail/Wholesale category upon completion of her Certificate III in Retail Supervision. Samantha currently works for the Independent Grocers Association in Kootingal and is considering further training with Workstar in the area of Business Administration.
Commenting upon the success of the company's courses, Business Delivery Manager at Workstar Cathy Huff said, "Workstar is very proud of the achievement of these award winners, and the efforts they have demonstrated in attaining these qualifications". Cathy also recognised the efforts of the trainers in the VET sector acknowledging, "the time and effort they put in to support and encourage these fine young trainees".
Amongst Workstar's Training Business Leaders, Richelle Grant from the North Coast region of New South Wales was nominated for Assessor of the Year in The North Coast Training Awards, and was only a whisper away from winning the award.
As the VET sector now boasts over 400, 000 apprenticeships and trainees and involves over 57% of all Australian employers, the introduction of new technologies is vital to deliver on government and industry initiatives to address skills shortages, improve retention rates and provide access and support for local, regional and rural businesses.
