Wayne Bush
Solutions Manager - Sydney
Why did you join Workstar?
I wanted the chance to work with an organisation that offers a 'one stop shop' for training for clients across a number of different industries.
What does your job involve?
I am responsible for sourcing and developing new business opportunities, promoting Workstar's services in the marketplace and building relationships with Apprenticeship Centres and relevant Government departments.
What training/experience did you have prior to getting this role?
Prior to joining Workstar I had 10 years experience in the training sector working within various Registered Training Organisations
What do you find most rewarding about your job at Workstar?
Understanding a business' strengths and weakness and then having the opportunity to address those areas of weakness via outcome driven training is extremely rewarding. I also get a buzz out of having decision makers show faith in me personally as representing the company that is responsible for the development of their biggest asset - their staff.
What do you enjoy about working for Workstar?
I thrive on the opportunity to meet new people everyday. I enjoy the independence of my role whilst having a great support network around me.

Ryland Davies
Training Business Leader - Melbourne
What does your job involve?
My job involves the delivery of training and assessment for Certificate III Warehousing and Storage and Certificate III Process Manufacturing qualifications. I also develop materials to assist in this process as well as managing client relationships.
Why did you join Workstar?
After working for myself for a year as a contractor trainer I decided to join a large organisation with a sound reputation and strong values.
What has been your greatest achievement in this role?
My greatest achievement has been supporting 151 trainees from diverse backgrounds to achieve Certificate III Process Manufacturing at the Silcraft site. Training was carried out during a very difficult time with the impending closure of the site, so it was especially rewarding to upskill these trainees and recognise their achievements with a formal qualification.
What training/experience did you have prior to getting this role?
I've been an in-house trainer for Alcan where I was responsible for giving safety inductions and also training new employees on how to operate gantry cranes. I have also previously worked as a Trainer/Assessor for several different RTO's, specialising Certificate III Warehousing and Certificate III Process Manufacturing qualifications.
What do you find most rewarding about your job at Workstar?
I enjoy the flexibility of managing my own trainee case load instead of the usual RTO standard of being told when and where to train is a massive plus. On a personal level, taking trainees with no formal qualifications right the way through the course with a positive end result is always rewarding.
What do you enjoy about working for Workstar?
I enjoy working with the team here in Melbourne and the clear direction and positive outlook of the company.

I am responsible for identifying new clients and improving relationships with existing clients. Additionally, I work closely with clients to tailor training solutions to their varying needs.
What has been your greatest achievement in this role?
My greatest achievement so far was securing endorsement to deliver retail training from the WA Master Franchisee for Howard Storage World.
What training/experience did you have prior to getting this role?
Prior to this role I worked for the Australian Medical Association as a Trainer/Assessor. I was responsible for delivering qualifications from the Business Training Package and developing new business. Prior to this, I lived in Vietnam for a year teaching English from home. The majority of my work history has been in the UK where I have worked in both Account Management and Training Officer roles within the Pharmaceutical Industry.
What do you find most rewarding about your job at Workstar?
Meeting so many different people from different industries is a really interesting part of my job. In particular I find the research aspect really rewarding. For example I recently met with a client who wanted to undertake training in a qualification we could not deliver. I identified exactly what outcomes he wanted to achieve and then researched all the units that would meet his requirements that we could deliver thorough another qualification. The appreciation he showed when I presented my ideas was a fantastic reward.
Why did you join Workstar?
I felt the role matched my experience and skills perfectly. I have worked in both sales and training plus already had a good understanding of Registered Training Organisations. I liked the fact that there were so many positive changes and developments happening within the company and wanted to be part of developing the WA branch.
What do you enjoy about working for Workstar?
I really enjoy working for an organisation that is evolving so rapidly and whose values I believe in. I also enjoy being able to offer the client so much in terms of curriculum and resources and the fact that I can sell a service that people really want! Finally, I work with a fantastic team of people here in the Perth office.
