Vodafone is focused solely on mobile technology. Their aim is to develop and deliver new wireless services for people who want the freedom and flexibility to communicate and access information anywhere, anytime.
They were awarded the third Australian mobile telecommunications carrier licence in 1992 and by 1994 were providing GSM mobile telecommunications services with network coverage in all major Australian cities.
Vodafone now operates a GSM digital mobile network that covers 93% of the Australian population.
More than 3 million customers are now connected to Vodafone, which is almost a 17% share of the Australian mobile market. To help service this vast customer base, Vodafone Australia employs over 1,400 permanent staff.
In support of rolling out their newly implemented world-wide CRM system, Workstar
were engaged to design an interactive learning program, which would result in learners demonstrating expertise in the system prior to deployment. The eLearning modules had to be:
- flexible and scalable, and tailored for sub-audiences in Australia, NZ and Fiji,
- delivered multinationally in diverse settings and environments,
- delivered to internal staff and external partners, and
- highly interactive ensuring engagement and retention.
In response Workstar developed over 25 Macromedia Flash simulation learning modules customised for 38 job roles covering a wide range of authentic customer scenarios that touch upon all aspects of the software.
The project, one of the largest commercial eLearning projects ever undertaken in Australia, provides authentic and visually realistic learning experiences to train staff in the new software and new business processes and procedures.
The result was an innovative blended learning program that is user friendly to Vodafone staff using eLearning and related training content (facilitator guides, job aids) developed in parallel to the actual system implementation.
