Retail

Angus & Robertson (A&R) is Australia's largest book retail franchise chain with more than 185 stores and 2,700 staff, situated in every state and mainland territory of Australia.

Almost 120 years after its foundation, the A&R name is now one of the most recognised retail brands in the country with over 96% consumer recognition. The company’s vision is to lead the way in Australian bookselling by providing total customer satisfaction. With a typical store holding over 8,000 different books which change with seasons and trends, a quality hiring and staff training strategy is essential to delivering the company vision.

With future growth being fuelled through an expanding franchise network, A&R have recognised the importance of providing franchise owners with comprehensive training, ongoing support and advice regarding all aspects of managing their business.

In July 2003, Workstar and A&R launched their eLearning platform called ‘Learner Versity’, offering 1,600 staff members online Retail and Business Management traineeships. In October 2004 the program was expanded to also provide a fully integrated eRrecruitment platform and training module for casual and part time staff employed for the peak Christmas selling period.
