Tourism Western Australia is a statutory authority under the portfolio of the Minister for Tourism. Responsible for promoting Western Australia as an attractive holiday, event, convention and incentive travel destination, nationally and overseas, Tourism Western Australia enhances the tourism industry, infrastructure and product base.

Tourism WA has five divisions, each with a specific role in growing the development of tourism as an industry and increasing visitation to and length of stay in Western Australia.

In October 2007, Tourism Western Australia launched through Workstar the 'Western Australia Holiday Specialist Program'. This is an online interactive course accessible through Tourism WA's website, offering travel agents a portal to self-education on Western Australian tourism and holiday information.

The program collects agent information though a registration page before allowing
access to the course. The basic database and reporting functionality then collects and stores the agent's data and records any opt-ins for marketing send-outs. It can also report on user completions.

Upon completion of the program, Tourism WA recognises the achievement by awarding a Certificate to the user.
