Deployed Force Support Unit (DFSU) of the Australian Defence Force (ADF)

Government and Education

Currently there are around 2,900 Australian Defence Force personnel who are deployed on operations overseas to protect Australia and its national interests. Around 300 personnel are also deployed on security tasks in our maritime protection zone on Operation Resolute.

It is the Deployed Force Support Unit (DFSU) who help prepares these defence members for their deployment. The preparation provided varies from deployment to deployment and is always followed up by support. Briefings are often on things such as quarantine, customs, DG, legal, language, postal, psych, fire and others.

Overall, they ensure deployed Australian Defence Force Personnel are empowered with the knowledge to serve in threat environments around the globe.

In 2006, Impart (A TodayCorp and Workstar company) worked with DFSU to produce an online learning package.

The package enabled military personnel to deal with potentially threatening situations by better understanding their circumstances and improving their ability to react and cope should such circumstances occur.

The package also covered essential learning fundamentals including: basic health; hygiene; first aid, and cultural awareness training, along with a range of "secure" topics.
