Clay Brick Paver Institute

The Clay Brick and Paver Institute (CBPI) is the peak association of the Australian brick industry. Originally founded in 1959 as the Brick Development Research Institute, it is wholly funded by the Industry. Its membership includes the majority of brick manufacturers including the three national companies.

The institute is primarily responsible for the development and dissemination of technical information on behalf of the industry and represents the industry at national level on the development of standards.

The Institute facilitates research, often in collaboration with major universities and bodies such as the Australian Greenhouse Office. It also publishes authoritative technical manuals that are widely used in building design and construction. State brick associations also operate in Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria.


CBPI Online Learning and Information Network (COLIN) is the Industry's training and communications resource.

Built by Workstar COLIN was designed to educate CBPI members and their staff on the benefits of building with brick and empowering them to influence their customers; including builders, land developers, government and also consumers.

By providing a common language and disseminating information throughout the industry, COLIN establish's a consolidated approach to the market and strengthens CBPI's position as the leader in external walling.

In addition, COLIN is the voice of CBPI and informs the industry of all the latest marketing initiatives, research developments and publications available to support CBPI members and their staff in their day to day business.
